Professor Zhi Yu Yang obtained his BSc degree (1983) from Fudan University and PhD degree (1988) from Purdue University. He joined the Physics Department of HKUST in 1992. In 1999, he was appointed Director of the Liquid Helium Facility. Professor Yang's main research interests include: - Polymer dynamics
- Physical properties of ultra-thin/nanostructured polymers
- Physics of II-VI and III-V semiconductor interfaces and quantum structures;
- Optical properties of novel materials such as carbon nanotubes and photonic crystals
