Professor Iam Keong Sou obtained his BSc degree (1982) from Jinan University and PhD degree (1990) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He joined the Physics Department of HKUST in 1991.

Professor Sou's main research interests include molecular beam epitaxial (MBE) growth and characterisation of metallic and semiconductor nanostructures including quantum dots, nanowires, nanotrenches and nanogratings; Bismuth based topological insulators; structural and chemical analysis of hetero-interfaces; UV optoelectronic devices.
